Job Search And Other Resources

This page is (will be, if you are reading this right after we launch) filled with links to some of our favorite resources. We hope you find these helpful, and if there are any sites or stories you’d recommend, just let us know at ideas@laidoffbetteroff.com.

Unemployment Offices:

A list of all the unemployment offices across the US, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Washington DC.

Websites with Positive Stories:

Mindfulness Links:

I read mindful.org about once a week or so. It has a lot of long reads, sure, and is about mindfulness. But it also has great articles on stress and happiness and many of the things we can do to improve our lives.

Greater Good in Action is a site run by Berkeley. It takes a “science based approach” to a meaningful life. There is a lot of good advice here.

Present Moment Mindfulness is a podcast hosted by our friend Ted Meissner.

Good Sites and Articles About the Job Search:

The Voice of Job Seekers podcast is good. Some of them can be a bit longer than I’d want, but I have found them very informative overall.

Jobscan has a list of LinkedIn people to follow if you are looking for work. I had already followed several before this came out, now I follow more.

Articles About Handling Your Emotions:

Read a great article about grieving your job loss.

Other Good Topics:

Groom+Style has a great article on what new college graduates should do to manage their new life. It’s got good advice in general on budgeting and goals and other things, but is definitely aimed at new grads.
